About Joining H-1

HOWDY!
My name is Colton Morgan, Company H-1’s Recruiting Officer. Thanks for visiting our site! The goal of this page is to help determine if H-1 is right for you or for your son. To start, one of our major goals is to mold freshmen into professionals. One good way to do this is to take a commission into the United States Navy or the United States Marine Corps. Please keep in mind, however, that you are not required to join the military after the Corps of Cadets or H-1.

To get a USN/USMC Scholarship through Texas A&M, you must have three things:

Grades
Outstanding PT scores
Extracurricular activities that focus on leadership achievements

Company H-1 can and will help you achieve these three personal goals. Here is what Company H-1 has to offer to you:

Grades:

In Company H-1, grades take precedence over ANY Corps activity.
We offer a personalized White-Belt Mentor Program in which we pair each fish with a Junior or Senior who has a similar academic major. Your White-Belt Mentor will help prepare your class schedules, pick your professors, discuss class exams and quizzes, etc.
We require freshmen to engage in weekly personal study time. Unique to our outfit, we set aside five hours of personal study time, allowing you to focus on your academics without interruption from your buddies or upperclassmen.

Physical Training (P.T.):

Company H-1’s ongoing policy is to be the # 1 outfit in P.T.
We have won the Bloody Cross, a Corps-wide 3-mile time trial race, an unprecedented TEN years in a row.
We have placed in the top 3 among Corps outfits in the timed Obstacle Course Challenge the last six years in a row, placing first the past FOUR years in a row.
H-1 has a higher percentage of SEAL Platoon members than any other outfit. SEAL Platoon is a Texas A&M special unit designed to prepare cadets for BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL – the official Navy SEAL School). Four out of the last five Commanding Officers of SEAL Platoon have come from H-1.

Leadership:

Above all, the Corps of Cadets and H-1’s goal is to develop our members into leaders.
This process takes several years. Every year, a cadet assumes a different role. As he climbs in rank, he learns to be a follower, direct-leader, indirect-leader, and an overall policy setter his senior year.
Through the activities mentioned above and more, we will build our cadets into leaders in which the Corps is renowned for.
